Makes sense that Lucho would go back to Argentina since that is what he expressed wanting to do. But it sure would be fun if he stuck in the league and went to FC Dallas.

It would, but if I was Dallas I'd be ready to tear it all down and start young, rather than going with a mercurial 30-year-old whose performance is more significantly based upon physical traits than most understand.

As a DC United fan, I experienced "young Acosta". He was a very raw talent, prone to sulking until Rooney showed up and really unlocked his game. The botched PSG deal in early 2019 seemed to sour Acosta and he refused to re-up with DCU. (Also ownership, as was and is their wont, lowballed the hell out of him.) Acosta left on a free to Mexico and disappeared without leaving an oil slick. Cincy rescued him from oblivion, but I guess 4 years in one place is the most he can tolerate. Cincy fans drooling over Evander should realize they are on rinse and repeat with him as well.

I think they'd happily sign up for 4 years of MVP-caliber play, to be fair.

I won't pretend like I know the whole story of what is going on in Cincy and Portland, but the unhappiness of Evander and Acosta confuses me. Both franchises have been relatively successful in recent years and also prove to be spending money to add more quality. Especially Cincy. These guys are no doubt two of the most fun to watch in MLS with the ball on their feet but I'd be hesitant to spend big on them myself. Especially Evander who seems to take a game off on a regular basis.

With Evander, I think it's simple: money. He's on 2.35m, which is second-highest on the team, and lower than other MVP-caliber players in the league. The Timbers don't seem willing to go above that level.

With Lucho... dude's just mercurial. I think he's got an expiration date no matter where he's at.

i know it's still quite new, but I'm surprised we haven't seen any cash deals come through yet! or even combo cash/gam deals (is that allowed?).

it's nice to see when talent stays in MLS rather being sent outside of the league. i hope that it's the case for both Evander and Lucho.

Cash/GAM deals are not allowed. Straight cash homey, or put together an MLS specific package of GAM and international roster slots.
