Doyle, thank you so much for all the years of your time in contributing to extra time. Listening to you each week inspired me to an insane degree to better understand the game of soccer, and I so doing you have deepened my love and appreciation for the game to a level I would never have imagined possible. I truly appreciate the work you do, and hope to stay close to whatever is next for you.
This show was foundational for me in getting into American soccer, between MLS, USMNT and the lower leagues. It's a bummer that it's going away, but I can't thank you all enough for getting me invested in the game for the last decade-plus. Anytime I have interacted with you in the past has been a delight too. Glad to hear that you will still be doing your thing with MLS at the very least!
This is absolutely devastating. I’ve missed maybe 5 shows since ETR began. Other things have come and gone , but this has been the one constant in my soccer consumption. Nick, Simon, Jason, and everybody since have been so central to how I see and appreciate the game. In particular, you all kept me going during the pandemic, where I got to do things like imagine an MLS Club in the San Joaquin Valley and have you all actually read it online. Crazy. What a loss this is. Thanks, and Love you all.
Started listening to ExtraTime in 2017 when it seemed like Cincinnati was getting a team, wanted to know more about the league. Your pod helped me become a better fan, track league wide storylines. Will miss it and I'm not sure anything will ever replace it. I'm sad with you about this. Thanks for the good listens over the years.
Matt, I've been a loyal listener and reader for a decade now. ETR's intelligent, energetic, passionate analysis has made me an MLS lifer and smarter soccer fan. You treated each club as worthy of coverage and the league's history as worthy of remembering. You all made Major League Soccer feel major league, even when it wasn't.
I'll add one point from Shutdown Fullcast farewell episode: reading someone's words is one thing, but hearing people's voices is another thing entirely. It makes all of us feel connected to you guys in a very personal way. That makes this goodbye tough!
But how will David Beckham be informed about the league?
Seriously though, y’all make following this league fun and engaging. I would think MLS would want more of that. I’m happy you all are keeping your jobs.
No ETR? Stunned. This is the first podcast I ever listened to regularly. Countless hours listening to so many voices from our ramshackle American soccer niche. Thanks for the memories
I have listened to Extratime since I started following the league in earnest in 2017. I’ll miss hearing your voices on my daily dog walks. It was a good day to subscribe to Soccerwise. Thanks for the memories!
For a guy who didn't grow up with soccer and really didn't find the sport until the 2006 World Cup, ETR made learning about the game and the league fun and accessible. From Lalas, Borg, Baer, and Firchau to the current crew, the banter, clear friendships, and genuine informative (and sometimes hot) takes, you guys made us feel a part of a quirky, weird,, and small, if growing, MLS family. Extratime will be missed all of us. I hope that Soccerwise eventually fills that niche, and maybe adds a little of the independent sauce we saw from Paul and Sam on Allocation Disorder.
I especially appreciated how you used the pod to give a platform for cameos to talented, up-and-coming media figures like Scoops and Joe Lowery.
I'm sad that I'll never have the opportunity to have another reader questioned answered. My only one read on air ended with Saghini pooh-poohing my assertion that signing Frank Rost as a DP was a dumb move. I still disagree.
I started listening when you first started. I've followed the league intensely since 2006. Congrats do you guys for a quality job.
I moved away a few years ago -- not because I didn't like the job you did but because I just strongly believe that soccer media in our country needs to be independent of the league. You should all be free to criticize Garber, et al (and give props to them). I think you guys did a good job walking that line but it still shaped your coverage. I don't blame you guys at all.
Independence is not important because Garber and MLS, Inc is evil. It is because it is important in everywhere we spend our time and energy. We are in a major societal battle over defining reality and the billionaire class has declared the need to control what reality actually is. We all need to spend our time only with independent journalism.
Now, SoccerwiseHQ is not ever missed. Neither is MLS Journeyman, the absolute gem of soccer talk by Dan Gargan, Dax McCarty and Alan Gordan. Landon Donavan and Tim Howard have a weekly not to be missed but it is rather slick and commercial -- but they do a good job.
You guys blazed a trail and now is a good time for the trail to end and new trails to begin. I hope you all show up in other podcasts and could even get independent an independent ETR going. I would pay money for that.
NO! NO! NO! I refresh my app waiting for this show every week. Have not missed a single one in last two+ years. This is sad indeed. I can get a little fix with Soccerwise but I need some Doyle and Wiebe to balance out the banter! I wish you all the best and look forward to following everyone on future projects.
Thank you for the many years of enjoyment. I learned so much about a sport that I came to later in life - it made the game much more meaningful to me. Your passion, humor, and dedication were (are!) self-evident. Sad to see it go, glad you're still writing.

Thanks for wrapping things up, closure is good. Will definitely miss the show.

Thank you for helping me fall in love with the game.
This is really sad. Have been a loyal listener twice a week for a decade.
